Our Story

Swaraj India invites you to embark on an extraordinary culinary journey of first ever Maharashtrian Cuisine in Bay Area. We have created dishes that borrow from the past, yet are reinvented a new with vibrancy, authenticity and simplicity with modern flair.


Name has been driven from a most popular word in Indian History which means  "own kingdom". Swaraj India was designed to envelop diner to serve Authentic food, Maharashtrian ambiance and serenity.
Upon entering the restaurant, you'll be greeted by the image of "Lord Ganesha" and "Mata Laxmi" in hand-carved wooden panels, the glow from Copper bells and a eye catching view of entire ambiance. We invite you to join us for an exquisite dining experience.

    "We love this place. It's an easy walk from our house, and it has a very friendly, neighborhood feel even though it's on Santa Clara Street. We had lamb Rogan Josh and the butter chicken, and both were flavorful and tasty. We ordered "medium" spicy, and it wasn't overwhelming at all. Be sure to get the samosas to start. They're wonderful."

    "The best Indian food I’ve had here in a long time. We got the naan, chicken sukka, chicken tikka, kheema pav and sev puri. They were all scrumptious! Seasoned perfectly and cooked to perfection. The naan deserves a special mention. It wasn’t doughy or heavy. It was thin and baked just right! Definitely come back here every time I crave Indian food!"
